The UAE ranks among the best countries in the world, suitable for living and working, thanks to its safety and stability, in addition to the high levels of health and educational services, infrastructure and other elements of urban development.

The quality of life provided by the state pushes millions around the world to place it as the first choice for residence and launch into their working lives.

In 2021, the UAE rose 10 ranks to be ranked fourth as the best global destination for living and working, according to the results of the fourteenth edition of the annual HSBC Expat Explorer report, which is a global survey that covers more than 20,000 people who live and work outside their home countries.

On the occasion of the World Cities Day, which falls on Oct.31, the Emirates News Agency is reviewing the most prominent results and ranks achieved by a number of Emirati cities this year, all of which serve to enhance their global attractiveness as a preferred destination for housing and work for different nationalities.

Starting with the capital, Abu Dhabi, which for the fifth year maintains the lead of the world’s safest cities, ahead of 431 cities in the world, according to the specialized American website Numbeo, whose reports are based on the largest database and information in the world, collected from users from different regions and cities around the world, and includes details about life and living in those cities and countries.

Abu Dhabi ranked first in the Arab world and in the Middle East, for the second year in a row, in the list of the most livable cities for the year 2021, according to the annual classification issued by the information unit of the “Economist Intelligence”, affiliated to the British magazine “The Economist.”

A study issued by the “Deep Knowledge Analytics”, during the first quarter of this year, ranked the city of Abu Dhabi at the best level in responding to the Covid-19 epidemic and the safest from the threat of the pandemic, thanks to the set of preventive and precautionary measures taken by the emirate at the health, economic and social levels.

Abu Dhabi ranked first in the Middle East and North Africa in the Smart Cities Index for the year 2021 issued by the International Institute for Management Development, which covers five main axes: health and safety, mobility, activities, opportunities, and governance.

In terms of environmental sustainability, Abu Dhabi ranked second in the world and ninth in the world, achieving 357 points on the general index in a report issued by the British “U-Switch” website for comparisons.

In turn, Dubai has maintained its brilliance and competitiveness among the best cities in the world to live and work, and during 2021 it won first places in many relevant global indicators and reports.

Dubai ranked third in the world among the cities that workers want to move to live in during 2021, according to a survey conducted by the Boston Consulting Group and The Network for employment, which included 209,000 people in 190 countries.

Dubai ranked first regionally and fifth globally in the list of the best cities for the year 2021, issued by the Canadian Resonance Consultancy for Studies and Research, which issues an annual classification that measures the best cities and measures the relative quality of the place, reputation, and competitive identity of the major cities in the world with a population of at least one million.

Dubai ranked fifth in the list of the top 10 cities in the world for 2021, according to a report by the “Best Cities” website, and this classification coincided with the selection of Dubai last July among the top 10 global cities for remote work in 2021, according to a recent classification of the “Nomadlist” website.

Dubai ranked first in the Middle East and fourth globally in the list of the most sustainable cities in the world, according to the report of the British “U-Switch” website for comparisons, achieving 375 points, where cities are classified according to criteria including the use of renewable energy, pollution levels, the percentage of green spaces, traffic levels, real estate prices and the percentage of carbon dioxide emissions, and more.

Dubai ranked first in the Middle East and North Africa cities and 11 globally in the Women’s Quality of Life Index, issued by Bloomberg News Agency, which monitors the quality of living levels for women in the best business cities around the world, based on the performance of each city in a number of countries.

Dubai ranked first in the Arab world and 12th globally among the cities of luxury living, on the “Global Wealth and Lifestyle” index of the Julius Baer Group for the year 2021, and ranked first regionally and 29th globally in the index of the most innovative cities for the year 2021, according to the ThinkNow, an Australian research and consultancy firm.

Moving to Sharjah, the city ranked sixth on the list of the safest cities in the world according to the classification of the American site “Numbeo” for the year 2021, while it continues to be on the list of the most innovative cities in the world thanks to its cultural scene full of events and international conferences that attract creators from all over the world.
